Bill Burr’s been a pretty vocal critic of South African billionaire Elon Musk, most recently after Musk repeatedly made a gesture that is identical to Nazi salute at Trump’s inauguration.
And now, the comedian says in response, Musk acted like “a f–king baby, just like Hitler,” by flagging his Twitter/X account for inappropriate content.
So, a few weeks back on his “The Monday Morning Podcast,” Burr commented on said gesture, telling listeners, “What happened to the Twitter guy? That guy has lost his f–king mind.”
Musk “literally sieg’d heil! He did,” Burr noted, adding, “He didn’t just heil! You can accidentally heil — but when you add the sieg you meant it.”
On this week’s episode of “Monday Morning,” Burr have an update.
“I’ll tell you, it was funny. I made fun of the f—ing Twitter guy for f—ing seig heiling, not once, but twice, and I never looked at my emails. I was scrolling through my emails, and it said my Twitter account had been flagged for inappropriate,” Burr said. “I don’t even tweet anymore, had been flagged for, what a f–king baby, just like Hitler, a f–king baby.”
You can hear for yourself below — the whole episode’s good but the Musk discussion happens at the 36:20 mark.
Meanwhile, if for some reason you’re not aware of what Burr is talking about, during the Trump inauguration, Musk made a gesture that is absolutely identical to a Nazi salute, two times. First, he preceded it by putting his right hand, palm facing in, to his chest, and then with force, and literally grunting as he did it, Musk extended his arm straight out, palm down, fingers straight, at an angle pointing upward away from his chest. Which of course happens to be exactly how a Nazi salute is performed. He then repeated the gesture shortly after, in case the situation was ambiguous.
Defenders of Musk — which, pathetically, includes the Anti-Defamation League — insist the thing literally anyone watching saw with their own eyes didn’t actually happen. Musk, weirdly, as of this writing has not actually denied that he made a Nazi salute. At most he complained in vague terms about the criticism he received, saying that his critics “need better dirty tricks,” and that “The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”
Meanwhile, it’s become something of a trend for outspoken American right wingers to also do gestures that look exactly like, literally identical to, Nazi salute in public, at events celebrating ethnic cleansing, dictatorship and various forms of Un-American authoritarianism.
This includes former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, who made the gesture during the right wing CPAC conference last week. Though in fairness Bannon, unlike Musk, has explicitly denied that’s what he did, insisting instead that it was just a “wave.”
Speaking of Hitler, Burr used the occasion to go on a rant about the monster himself.
Having called Elon Musk “a f–king baby, just like Hitler,” Burr elaborated, saying “that’s another thing. All of these people that are into f–king Hitler, you know what I mean? Look at this guy, like he was some sort of f–king hero. The guy’s one of the biggest f–king cowards ever. All the pain and all the suffering that that guy’s caused, and the war crime scene the Allies had to commit fire bombing f–king cities to get that motherf–ker, when it came time for him to pay the price for all the suffering he caused, millions and millions and millions of people. Did he face the music? No, he gave himself a nice, quick, painless f–ing death.”
“That’s your f–king hero,” Burr continued. F–king coward is what he was.”
