"Weeds" and "The Big C" both set records for Showtime Monday night.
The pay channel's big night began with the season six premiere of "Weeds," which was the five-year-old suburban drug dealing comedy's highest rating ever. Some 1.26 million viewers tuned in at 10 p.m. on Monday.
That was followed at 10:30 with the series premiere of dramedy "The Big C," with Laura Linney as a woman facing a terminal cancer diagnosis. It was watched by about 1.15 million viewers — making it Showtime's biggest original series debut since "Odyssey 5" in June 2002.
Both "Weeds" and "The Big C" brought in over 500,000 additional viewers each with encore airings in the 11 p.m. hour.
