“Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki reacted on Monday after the series finale date for his CBS sitcom was announced, calling the 12-season journey and its impending end “VERY surreal.”
Perhaps in keeping with the series’ nerd-centric theme, there was also math involved, as Galecki ran the numbers on the series.
“273 episodes filmed. 26 days left on the Big Bang stage. 6 episodes to be filmed. 66 days until the 1 hour finale airs. All VERY surreal,” Galecki wrote.
The actor added, “Much [love] to all the fans.”
Galecki included two photos of himself and his castmates along with his sentiments.
CBS announced Monday that the long-running comedy — which also stars Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch — will wrap up May 16 with an hour-long finale from 8 to 9 p.m. ET/PT. The finale will mark the series’ 279th episode.
Galecki isn’t the only one feeling emotional about the upcoming swan song for the series, judging by the comments section of his post.
“Going to miss you all so much. I’ve met my husband, gotten married and had children all around the same time these moments were happening on the show,” one commenter wrote.
“Say it isn’t so!!! Thankful for reruns, although I know them word for word,” another voice chimed in.
“After each episode my heart hurts a little more,” another fan wrote, adding, “Thank god for syndication!”
And then there was, “You all look like drug dealers in that first picture.”
Oh well; we all have our different methods for processing loss.
