Like so many lives touched by Stephen Hawking’s brilliance, the cast of “The Big Bang Theory” is spending Wednesday morning in mourning.
Stars Mayim Bialik, Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki and co-creator Bill Prady all took to social media to express their admiration for the late, great physicist, who died Wednesday morning after a decades-long battle with ALS. He was 76.
“In loving memory of Stephen Hawking,” the CBS sitcom wrote on its official Twitter account, alongside a photo of the stars with Hawking. “It was an honor to have him on The #BigBangTheory. Thank you for inspiring us and the world.”
Hawking appeared on the series as himself seven times, beginning with his Season 5 cameo in “The Hawking Excitation” and most recently with the current season’s premiere last September.
“As we near Pi day (3.14) I join the global community in mourning the loss of the greatest physicist of our era,” Bialik tweeted, along with the same snapshot. “#StephenHawking is free from the physical constraints of this earthly condition we all exist in and he is soaring above us now marveling at it all.”
