Fox released the first footage from the “Beverly Hills, 90210” meta revival on Thursday, showing the gang return to the Peach Pit and Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green return to making out.
Along with Spelling (Donna Martin) and Green (David Silver) locking lips, the brief teaser for “BH90210” shows glimpses of original cast members Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh), Jason Priestley (Brandon Walsh), Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor), Ian Ziering (Steve Sanders) and Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman).
The six-episode series centers on the original cast playing fictionalized versions of themselves — “with a healthy dose of irreverence” — as they try to get a revival of their old show off the ground.
The original “Beverly Hills, 90210,” created by Darren Star and produced by Tori Spelling’s father, Aaron Spelling, ran for 10 seasons on Fox between 1990 and 2000. It starred Tori Spelling, Doherty, Priestley, Green, Garth, Ziering, Carteris and Luke Perry (who died in March) as Dylan McKay. “90210” led to multiple spinoffs, most notably “Melrose Place.”
Paul Sciarrotta and “BH90210” co-creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler are co-showrunners on the series.
“BH90210” series is based on a concept by Alberghini, Chessler, Spelling and Garth. Cast members Carteris, Doherty, Green, Priestley and Ziering will also serve as executive producers. It is produced by CBS Television Studios.
