“Better Call Saul” star Patrick Fabian revealed the advice he got from show creator Vince Gilligan before he landed the plum role on the AMC series.
“The audition process was like everything else I’ve done: driving around, looking for parking, and changing clothes in my car,” Fabian told told TheWrap’s Matt Donnelly during a round of Wrapid Fire questions.
“I went in, I read the sides, and they seemed to like them,” he said. “Vince saw a tape of it. I went back and I read for him. And when I read for him, he said this, which was very wise: ‘I liked what I saw because you don’t change it up.’”
However, Fabian declined when a fan asked him to do an impression of Gilligan, who also created the Emmy-winning “Breaking Bad.”
“I am not an impressionist at all. I have to decline gracefully,” he said. “He’s also my employer, so…”
The “Better Call Saul” Season 2 finale airs tonight at 1o p.m./9c on AMC.
