While “Breaking Bad” saw a ton of characters die, “Better Call Saul” has taken a much slower death rate thus far. But there have been casualties, and these are them.
In the Season 1 episode “Five-Oh,” Mike is questioned by detectives about the disappearance of a pair of police officers who, it turned out, were responsible for the death of Mike’s brother before the events of the show.
In that episode we flash back to Mike’s fateful encounter with the two, Troy Hoffman and Jack Fensky, in Philadelphia three months earlier. Hoffman, pictured, was the first to die.
The other officer, Jack Fensky, had planned to kill a visibly drunken Mike and frame it as a suicide. But Mike had conned them. He toys with Fensky a little bit, shooting him in the chest but giving him enough time to beg before finishing him off.
Marco Pasternack was an old pal of Jimmy’s, with whom he would pull petty scams on people before Jimmy went legit. Marco died of a heart attack in the Season 1 finale.
We got all the way through Season 2 without a death, until Mike pulled a heist on a small cartel truck in the penultimate episode of Season 2. In the finale, Hector has the driver of the truck executed.
Mrs. McGill, the mother of Jimmy and Chuck, has been dead for several years as of the beginning of the show. But in the Season 2 finale, we get to meet her in a flashback. A flashback in which she dies …
