Halle Berry revealed that she slept in bed with her Oscar statue the night she won during a special live chat “On Acting – a Conversation with Halle Berry” at the AFI Fest on Tuesday night. The evening tied into a quickly escalating campaign for “Frankie and Alice," a story of a woman with multiple personality disorder that Berry stars in and produced.
The format channeled “In the Actor’s Studio” with an hour of retrospective clips, personal commentary, and a peek at Berry’s “Frankie” character shockingly adopting the personality of a white racist midway through an intimate scene.
After being shuttled 60 yards across the street in one of the ubiquitous black Audis circling Hollywood during AFI, the star/producer grabbed a red wine in the close confines of the Audi SkyLounge overlooking the pool. As to the film’s long gestation period, she told TheWrap, “I’m like a deer in headlights. I thought this movie was going to be buried on the shelf honestly. After working on it for 10 years, to know that it’s actually going to come out its just, I pinch myself.”
She was less enthusiastic about screening her own clips live. “I don’t watch my movies after the premiere,” Berry said. “So having to sit and watch clips of (the old films), makes me squirm a little bit. I hate the sound of my voice when I hear it. I get like ‘uggh,’ turn that off.

In the pre-holiday season of “hot” magazine parties, TV Guide got out of the gate first with its annual “Hot List” party at the W Hollywood on Monday night. Fran Drescher and NBC freshmen Ben Rappaport (“Outsourced”) and Jason Ritter (“The Event”) were hustling for their projects on the carpet, but upstairs all the intention was still focused on Fox’s cool kids: Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Mark Salling.
