Pro underwater mining tip: Don’t mess with the guy who has a giant excavator on his boat.
In the above “Bering Sea Gold” season finale clip, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Shawn Pomrenke loses it when he discovers rival Derek McLarty’s been diving — and dredging — on his claim. The start-up miner allegedly stole some coordinates from Pomrenke’s GPS, and tried to swipe gold while the powerful Pomrenke was out digging at the Bluff.
Unfortunately, the Christine Rose returned early after striking out elsewhere, catching McLarty’s High Noon in the thieving process. That’s when all hell breaks lose, as Shawn starts dumping excavator buckets full of the Bering Sea onto Derek’s smaller skiff, breaking its cabin door in the process.
Later on tonight’s season finale, Shawn’s dad Steve Pomrenke finally finds out if his inland mining dream was worth all that time and money, as the final gold hauls are tallied from Nome, Alaska.
By then, we’ll also all know if the High Noon is still seaworthy after the assault.
The season finale of “Bering Sea Gold” airs tonight at 9/8c on Discovery.
