The evil genius is a cruel stereotype. The cliched character is most often played by a geeky male who just can't get the girl, no matter how many times he tries to take over the world to impress her.
Fortunately, an indie movie is on the way to change that common perception.
"Battlestar Galactica" beauty Katee Sackhoff has signed on to play the title role in "Sexy Evil Genius," the actress' publicist has confirmed to TheWrap.
The dark comedy follows a group of strangers who are brought together in a downtown Los Angeles bar (of course) by their mutual ex-girlfriend, a mysterious woman bent on carrying out an intricate plan for romantic revenge.
The characters will apparently be early 30-somethings who are forced to confront the dreams and aspirations of their idealistic youth.
ABC Family's "Greek" showrunner Shawn Piller will direct from a script by Scott Lew, an ALS-afflicted quadriplegic who can't speak and wrote the script from his wheelchair while using an infrared dot on his forehead to point to letters and words on his computer.
Lew previously wrote and directed the 2006 Patrick Fugit indie "Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas" before his condition worsened and tragically took away his speech this past June.
Launchpad Productions and Piller/Segan/Shepard will produce "Sexy Evil Genius."
Sackhoff is currently shooting and co-producing the Gold Circle Films thriller "A Haunting in Georgia. While Sackhoff is best known for playing Starbuck on "Battlestar," she was equally excellent as the devious Dana Walsh, a complicated villain over the course of the final season of Fox's "24."
The actress is represented by Gersh, and her casting in "Genius" was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
