“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has earned another $33.1 million from 38 additional international markets on Thursday, bringing its two-day global cumulative box office haul to $44 million.
On Thursday, the Zack Snyder-directed film opened in Mexico to $5.8 million, Brazil to $3.5 million, Germany to $2.8 million, Australia with $2.5 million, Russia with $1.9 million, Korea with $1.7 million and the United Arab Emirates with $1.1 million (from 112 screens, nonetheless).
The blockbuster, which stars Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, has already grossed $27.7 million domestically. It is tracking to gross upwards of $150 million in North America this weekend.
The film opened in countries like Spain, Italy and France on Wednesday, and Spain remains on top, with $1.1 million, bringing the film’s cumulative total there to $2.9 million. “Batman v Superman” has also made $2 million in Italy ($925,000 on Thursday) and $2.7 million in France ($953,000 on Thursday).
“Batman v Superman” will open in 17 additional markets on Saturday, including the United Kingdom, Japan and China.
Although the film has an an impressive start both domestically and internationally, reviews for “Batman v Superman” are not stellar. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a low score of 30 percent, with many critics pointing out that the movie is just trying to do too much at once.
