Minnie Driver has been cast as the voice of Oswalda Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, during the “Batman: Caped Crusader” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video announced on Saturday.
The panel for the new animated series started with a video message from executive producer Bruce Timm who welcomed fans to the panel and kicked off the world premiere screening of the first episode, where Oswalda Cobblepot aka The Penguin was revealed for the first time. Following the screening, executive producer Matt Reeves and series voice cast: Hamish Linklater, Jamie Chung, and Minnie Driver had a lively conversation about the show and the roles they have in it.
The day before, Friday, July 26, Prime Video gave fans a sneak peek of the show by revealing an exclusive new clip from “Batman: Caped Crusader” at the end of their “Adapting Fan Favorites: A Conversation with Prime Video’s Adult Animation Creators” panel that also featured “Invincible,” “Hazbin Hotel,” “The Legend of Vox Machina,” and “Sausage Party: Foodtopia.” Check out the clip in the embed below.
“Batman: Caped Crusader” will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide beginning Aug. 1.
In the new show, Batman “attracts unexpected allies within the [Gotham City Police Department] and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications,” according to the official synopsis.
The series stars the ensemble cast of Hamish Linklater, Jamie Chung, Diedrich Bader, Christina Ricci, Minnie Driver, Mckenna Grace, Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, John DiMaggio, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, Tom Kenny, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Donohue, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel Osment and Toby Stephens.
