A day after CBS revealed that Lara Logan was beaten and sexually assaulted while on assignment in Egypt last week, President Barack Obama called the war correspondent to express his condolences, a White House official confirmed to TheWrap.
The White House would provide no other details regarding the conversation.
A CBS spokesman also confirmed the call, but would offfer no insight in terms of its contents.
Logan, 39, was assaulted last week while covering the resignation of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.
Amid a frenzied mob, she became separated from her crew and, according to a CBS statement, was "surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating."
Safely back in the United States, Logan was released from a hospital on Tuesday night and is now with her family recovering.
