‘The Bachelorette’ Star Rachel Lindsay Confronts Contestant Over ‘Ugly’ Racially Charged Remarks (Video)

“I didn’t want to give any life into you,” Lindsay tells Lee Garrett during Monday’s Men Tell All special

“The Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay doesn’t hold back when facing her castoffs.

During the ABC dating show’s Men Tell All special on Monday, Lindsay calls out Lee Garrett, who created drama earlier during Season 13 by referring to black contestants Eric Bigger and Kenny King as “aggressive.” The Nashville-based songwriter also made headlines for his racially charged tweets.

“It’s so disappointing to me because you had such strong opinions on such sensitive topics, and you turned it into something so ugly,” Lindsay told Garrett.

“I didn’t want to give any life into you, your opinions or your brief time on the show,” the franchise’s first African-American lead continued. “You had the opportunity to be about something so beautiful … and I feel like I’m in this unique position where I have the opportunity to be a spokesperson for African-Americans, for women.”

Garrett’s dustups this season with black cast members led some viewers to suggest that the long-running unscripted series treated racism as entertainment.

“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
