Ratings: ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Week 2 Keeps ABC Atop Monday Demo, NBC’s ‘Ninja Warrior’ Wins Viewers

Time-slot battle between summer competition series rages on

The 8 o’clock time-slot battle between NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” and ABC’s “Bachelor in Paradise” continued on Monday, with the physical competition winning the total-viewers trophy and the dating competition’s Week 2 start coming out on top among adults 18-49, just as they did a week ago.

ABC was first in ratings with a 0.9 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 3.7 million, according to preliminary numbers. From 8-10 p.m., “Bachelor in Paradise” scored a 1.1/6 and 4.3 million viewers. At 10, “Grand Hotel” received a 0.5/2 and 2.5 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 0.8/4 and first in viewers with 4.5 million. “American Ninja Warrior” at 8 earned a 0.9/4 and 4.7 million viewers. At 10, “Dateline” had a 0.7/4 and 4 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 0.6/3 and fourth in viewers with 2.4 million. At 8, “Beat Shazam” got a 0.6/3 and 2.6 million viewers. At 9, “So You Think You Can Dance” managed a 0.5/2 and 2.2 million viewers.

CBS and Telemundo tied for fourth in ratings, each with a 0.4/2. CBS was third in viewers with 3.2 million and Telemundo was fifth with 1.1 million.

CBS stacked its primetime block with repeats.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.3/2 and seventh in viewers with 996,000.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and sixth in viewers with 1 million. Sandwiched between encores, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” at 9 p.m. had a 0.2/1 and 1.1 million viewers.
