Although Eliza put her heart on the line on Monday’s “Bachelor in Paradise” by flying to Baltimore to tell Justin she made the wrong choice by not giving her rose to him, and was ultimately shot down, Eliza revealed to TheWrap that she has closed the door on a romantic future with Justin.
“I think that’s a closed chapter,” Eliza told TheWrap. “I think it could have been something great, but we just weren’t on the same page and that’s completely fine. I hope sometime in the future we can be cordial, but I think that’s done for.”
Eliza’s decision to break up with Rodney after choosing him at the rose ceremony instead of Justin followed what Eliza says was her “worst night” in paradise as she reconsidered her decision. “It was so difficult,” she said. “You can ask any of the girls, I was like, ‘you guys, I can’t do this,’ … I think I had like three meltdowns that day.”
Although she hoped to feel more confident in her choice to continue her relationship with Rodney, the next morning was anything but comforting for Eliza.
“The next day I was hoping to wake up with a sense of clarity and a sense of relief, but I almost woke up more emotions and more of a heavy heart,” she said. “And I think that’s what I knew that I had to have a conversation.”
Despite not wanting to hurt Rodney, Eliza knew she had to end their relationship out of respect for him.
“I didn’t want to stay another day with being unsure because he doesn’t deserve that, so that’s why I ended up doing what I did,” she said. “I know it was hard for both of us, but I felt it was right.”
“Bachelor in Paradise” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
