What happens when you sit down with such 2017 Emmy hopefuls as Aziz Ansari, Chrissy Metz, Aubrey Plaza and Trevor Noah and let them say whatever they want? As it turns out, you get impressions, fake trash talk, romantic confessions and an impromptu song or two.
In the run-up to Thursday’s Emmys nominations announcement, TheWrap chatted with a litany of TV stars about their buzzy shows. This, of course, led to some hilarious — and in some cases, head-scratching — off-the-cuff moments that can be seen in the above video.
“OK, so, I’m going to sing a song,” says “Legion” star Plaza. “It’s called ‘Happy Birthday.’”
Another memorable moment includes “Veep” cast members Reid Scott and Sam Richardson cracking wise about co-star Matt Walsh behind his back.
“Seriously, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again — Matt Walsh is a horrible human being,” a deadpan Scott quips. And Richardson jokingly concurs: “He’s just a garbage man.”
Noah had this to say about chatting with celebrity guests on “The Daily Show”: “As an interviewer, you shouldn’t fall in love — and that was a challenge.”
Check out the video above for Ansari’s stunned response to a question about “Master of None” Season 3, “Atlanta” star Brian Tyree Henry belting out a “Grease” tune and “This Is Us” standout Metz praising a certain A-list hunk.
