Marvel Studios pulled out all the stops for its D23 presentation on Saturday, with president Kevin Feige introducing over a dozen members of the cast of “Avengers: Infinity War” to celebrate the studio’s 10th anniversary and present a preview of the biggest Marvel film yet.
The clip — which has not yet been released online — showed the Guardians of the Galaxy landing on an unknown planet for an extremely dangerous mission, only to discover that their intended destination planet had been blown up already. Suddenly, a person slams against their ship: Thor.
Back on Earth, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) climbs over a massive pile of dead bodies as she comes upon Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who holds the Cosmic Cube (a.k.a. The Tesseract). In New York, the Spidey senses of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker awaken for the first time ever, and soon we see him flying off into the galaxy wearing the suit Tony Stark presented to him at the end of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Other rapid fire clips show Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) using the Time Stone, a.k.a. one of the Infinity Stones, against Thanos’ forces. We also see Black Panther battle evil in Wakanda and gather the Dora Milaje to defend their nation from impending doom.
The trailer ends with the Guardians encountering other Avengers, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Doctor Strange, as they come face to face with their greatest foe yet: the evil Thanos (Josh Brolin), who summons a meteor shower to destroy them.
“Avengers: Infinity War” will mark the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Stone arc, which began way back in 2012 with the first “Avengers” film. After being torn apart by the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” the Avengers must unite once again to stop Thanos from gathering the six Infinity Stones, which will give him control over all of reality.

Fortunately, they won’t be alone, as they will be joined in the battle against Thanos by Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
“Avengers: Infinity War” hits theaters May 4, 2018.
