A new teaser for “Avengers: Endgame” takes us way back to the very beginning to when we first met the characters we’ve come to know and love.
We see Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark suit up for the first time, as well as Chris Evans’ Captain America and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor from their respective solo films. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Stephen Strange is back to learning skills from Tilda Swinton’s The Ancient One, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man using his shrinking skills for the first time.
“We need heroes,” the voiceover in the teaser says.
The “whatever it takes” slogan we’ve come to know from all previous trailers appears near the end, before we catch a glimpse of Thanos being his usual, daunting self.
Early projections for “Avengers: Endgame” predict a $220-260 million opening, with the upper end topping the record $257.6 million domestic opening weekend total set by “Infinity War.” But with presales breaking every record imaginable, all bets are off for this film. The possibility of the first-ever $300 million domestic debut is now on the table, though analysts who spoke to TheWrap say they expect a lower, but still record-breaking, $270-280 million opening.
Joe and Anthony Russo are directing.
“Avengers: Endgame” hit theaters on April 26.
