MTV Movie Awards: Aubrey Plaza Pulls a ‘Kanye’ on Will Ferrell (Video)

The "Parks and Recreation" actress hopped on stage during Will Ferrell's acceptance speech for the comedic genius award and tried to yank the Golden Popcorn statue from his hand

"Parks and Recreation" star Aubrey Plaza channelled her inner Kanye West during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night when she decided to crash the Sony Studios stage where Will Ferrell was accepting the Comedic Genius award.

"What's happening," Ferrell asked as Plaza ran up and tried to snatch the inaugural prize out of his hands. The actress had the name of her next film, "The To Do List," written across her chest, seizing the opportunity for a little shameles self promotion.

Much like West infamously jumped on stage to interrupt Taylor Swift's speech during the 2009 Video Music Awards, MTV News says Plaza's awkward moment was not scripted and producers asked her to leave the show following the incident.

Still, Ferrell wasn't phased by the intrusion and played it off for laughs.

"Aubrey Plaza everyone. Just like we rehearsed it," Ferrell joked. "Perfect, it was perfect. Not too long, not too short. Right on the money."

For her part, Plaza herself cited West as her inspiration.

"Thanks for the advice @kanyewest," she tweeted. "Went better than planned!"
