(Spoiler alert: Please do not read if you’ve not watched Wednesday’s episode of “Arrow”)
One member of Team “Arrow” said goodbye to The CW superhero drama on Wednesday night, following a series of dramatic episodes involving his character.
Colton Haynes exited the show as a series regular, TheWrap has learned, though he will make at least one more appearance during “Arrow’s” currently airing third season, and could return for more appearances down the line on the show, on “The Flash” or the still-untitled “Arrow”/”Flash” spinoff series currently in development.
Haynes’ character Roy Harper, a crucial sidekick to Stephen Amell‘s Oliver Queen, aka Arrow, most recently pretended to be the Arrow in order to get arrested and keep the real vigilante from behind bars. In Wednesday’s episode, Roy apparently died, but it turned out to be a scheme to get him out of Starling City.
Though Haynes is officially done as a series regular, his exit very deliberately leaves the door open for him to return.
The show’s cast has already taken to social media to express their feelings.
“Sometimes real feelings creep into a scene. Goodbyes are tough. Even when they’re scripted,” Amell had tweeted back in March. He revealed Wednesday that the tweet was referring to the newest episode.
“Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. The Season 3 finale has been set fr May 13.
