Amy Adams Deciphers Alien Language in First Full ‘Arrival’ Trailer (Video)

Sci-fi drama from “Sicario” director Denis Villeneuve premieres in theaters on Nov. 11

Amy Adams is the last hope of stopping an all-out war between aliens and humans in the first full-length “Arrival” trailer.

Adams plays Louise Banks, an expert linguist who is called upon when mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe. Banks is brought in to investigate, along with an elite team of military and civilian personnel. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers.

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg also star in the film, along with Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner.

“Sicario” director Denis Villeneuve leads the film, with Eric Heisserer writing the screenplay adaptation of Ted Chiang’s short story, on which the film is based.

This project has been in the works for several years. Back in May 2014, TheWrap reported that Sony Pictures Worldwide picked up the foreign distribution rights to the movie at that year’s Cannes Film Festival and that it was set to shoot early the next year.

“Arrival” lands in theaters on Nov. 11
