Armie Hammer to Play Leo’s Lover in Clint’s ‘J. Edgar’ Biopic

The “Social Network” star will play FBI official Clyde Tolson in WB’s period drama

"The Social Network" star Armie Hammer is in talks to join Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar Hoover biopic, which is now titled "J. Edgar," the actor's publicist has confirmed to TheWrap.

DiCaprio stars as the former FBI director, while Hammer will play Clyde Tolson, the former lawyer-turned-G-man who is rumored to have been Hoover's gay lover.

Hammer was fantastic as the Winklevoss twins in "The Social Network," and is clearly destined for stardom thanks to his strapping looks and undeniable acting chops. While many predict Hammer will be cast as a major superhero within the next 2-3 years, it's nice to seem him avoid those epic expectations right off the bat and continue working with top-tier talent both behind and in front of the camera.

Eastwood will direct "J. Edgar" from a script by Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black ("Milk"). Eastwood's Malpaso Prods. will produce Warner Bros.' period drama along Imagine Entertainment.

Production is scheduled to begin early next year.

Hammer is represented by WME and his casting was first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
