It appears that Ariel Winter’s mommy issues have kicked into overdrive again.
“Modern Family” star Winter fired off a blistering Twitter rant on Wednesday, after her mother suggested in an interview that Winter needs to “grow up.”
“What’s sad is that you lie consistently. Also, why is it that you only choose to talk to me through the press? I’m doing just fine,” the 19-year-old seethed via the social media platform Wednesday afternoon. The message was punctuated with a graphic of the “no” symbol followed by the word “Toxic.”
While Winter didn’t call out her mother, Chrystal Workman, by name, the comment certainly seemed to be pointed in her direction. Winter’s tweet came shortly after Workman criticized Winter’s flesh-baring clothing choices — a critique that’s been leveled at Winter before — and said that her daughter “needs to grow up” in an interview with In Touch.
“She needs to grow up. I would tell her to dress properly, be the beautiful person she is. I feel sad that she feels the need to expose herself when it’s not necessary,” Workman said. “Ariel is smart, beautiful and talented. She is a legitimate actress. She does not need to do this. She is beautiful with her clothes on.”
The heated back-and-forth is just the latest flare-up between Winter, who is estranged from her mother, and Workman.
In the past, Winter has accused Workman of being physically and emotionally abusive toward her, as well as trying to “sexualize” her as a youngster.

In the interview, Workman denied those allegations, saying, “I would not do that.”
