MTV revealed the nominations list for the 2019 Video Music Awards on Tuesday, with Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift leading the pack.
The two pop stars received 10 nominations each, going head-to-head in categories including “Video of the Year,” “Song of the Year” and “Best Pop” with the singles “thank u, next” and “You Need to Calm Down,” respectively. Grande is also up for “Artist of the Year.”
The “Best New Artist” category will see chart-toppers Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X face off against “Sweet But Psycho” singer Ava Max, “Hustlers” star Lizzo, R&B singer H.E.R. and Spanish flamenco star Rosalía.
