Disney's official fan club, D23, is teaming up with ArcLight Cinemas to present classic Disney movies every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the month of August.
ArcLight Hollywood will showcase Disney's science-fiction and fantasy films, ArcLight Sherman Oaks will feature Disney's animated classics, and fans will be able to sing along to Disney musicals at ArcLight Pasadena.
The series begins on Monday, August 2 at ArcLight Hollywood with 1983's "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and ends with 1953's "Peter Pan" at ArcLight Sherman Oaks on Tuesday, August 31.
The rest of the schedule is as follows:
Aug. 3: Cinderella (1950) – ArcLight Sherman Oaks
Aug. 4: Newsies (1992) – ArcLight Pasadena
Aug. 9: The Rocketeer (1991) – ArcLight Hollywood
Aug. 10: Pinocchio (1940) – Sherman Oaks
Aug. 11: Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) – Pasadena
Aug. 16: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) – Hollywood
Aug. 17: Alice in Wonderland (1951) – Sherman Oaks
Aug. 18: Pete's Dragon (1977) – Pasadena
Aug. 23: The Black Hole (1979) – Hollywood
Aug. 24: The Jungle Book (1967) – Sherman Oaks
Aug. 25: Mary Poppins (1964) – Pasadena
Aug. 30: Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) – Hollywood
It looks to me like ArcLight Sherman Oaks has the cream of the crop, as "Peter Pan" and "The Jungle Book" are two of my favorite animated movies.
All of the screenings will also feature Disney trivia and prizes courtesy of D23. Tickets are $12.50 at ArcLight Sherman Oaks and Pasadena, and $13.50 at ArcLight Hollywood.
Additionally, D23 and The Walt Disney Archives have assembled an exclusive collection of classic movie posters from more than 70 years of the studio's illustrious history. The posters will be displayed starting today through Aug. 31 at ArcLight Sherman Oaks and ArcLight Pasadena.
