“Archer” will jump from FX to FXX for Season 8, the sister networks announced on Wednesday.
The animated series was created by Adam Reed and Floyd County Productions and is executive produced by Reed and Matt Thompson. The show is produced by FX Productions.
It was renewed for three additional seasons following Season 7 back in June. Reed has previously stated he expects the series to end after Season 10.
The show revolves around a former spy agency turned private investigation firm and the lives of its employees. The Figgis Agency presented all new challenges for the former spies in Season 7, the most difficult of which might have been the move to Los Angeles.
Every seedy surveillance of a suspected adulterer or investigation into insurance fraud was actually just another excuse for the staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gain.
“‘Archer’ is an awesome addition to the growing slate of original comedies on FXX, where it will join ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ ‘Man Seeking Woman’ and ‘You’re the Worst,’” said Chuck Saftler, president of program strategy and COO of FX Networks. “Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and Floyd County continue to make one of the funniest shows on television and it’s great to see them earn the awards and acclaim that comes with one of the most loyal and avid fan bases in the industry.”
Season 8 is set to premiere on FXX in spring 2017.
