"Law & Order: SVU" is preparing itself for November sweeps by packing its schedule with guest stars.
Warren Leight, the series' executive producer, announced Friday that a bevy of visitors will populate three episodes next month.
Former "Men of a Certain Age" star Andre Braugher will have a multi-episode arc on the series, playing Bayard Ellis, a high-powered defense attorney who becomes a civil-rights champion. Braugher's run begins with an episode titled "True Believers."
"American Pie" star Natasha Lyonne and "True Blood" actress Carrie Preston, meanwhile, will co-star on an upcoming episode entitled "Educated Guess." Lyonne will play Gina, a patient at a psychiatric hospital, while Preston will play her aunt. The hospital becomes a point of interest for SVU detectives due to a possible rape case.
Also guesting on an upcoming "SVU" episode: "West Wing" alum Timothy Busfield and "Clash of the Titans" actress Izabella Miko. Busfield will play a widower whose fiancé (played by Miko) mysteriously disappears.
"Law & Order: SVU," which recently saw the departure of longtime cast member Christopher Meloni, has fortified its season with numerous guest stars; T.R Knight, Kyle MacLachlan and Mehcad Brooks are among those who've had turns on the series this season.
