Anchor Bay Films has picked up Tony Krantz's thriller "The Big Bang," the company announced on Sunday.
Anchor Bay has acquired all distribution rights in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand, with plans to release the film this spring.

William Fichtner, Sam Elliott, Sienna Guillory and James Van Der Beek co-star alongside Autumn Reeser, Delroy Lindo, Bill Duke, Jimmi Simpson and German actor Thomas Kretschmann, while rapper/actor Snoop Dogg ("Training Day") also makes an appearance as a character named Puss.
Hannibal Pictures Chairman/CEO Richard Rionda Del Castro produced the film with screenwriter Erik Jendresen and Krantz's Flame Ventures.
Exec producers include Patricia Eberle, Gary Howsam, Lewin Webb, Richard Salvator and Ross Dinerstein.
Rionda Del Castro and Howsam arranged financing for "The Big Bang," which was made with the support of Hannibal Pictures, Standard Chartered Bank, Rollercoaster Entertainment, Blue Rider Pictures and North By Northwest Entertainment.
Banderas has been on a hot streak lately, as his upcoming films include Pedro Almodovar's "The Skin That I Inhabit," Steven Soderbergh's "Haywire" and Jean-Jacques Annaud's "Black Gold."
Rionda Del Castro serves as exec producer on Dito Montiel's "The Son of No One," which will have its World Premiere at Sundance later in the week. He recently wrapped the action film "Setup," which stars Bruce Willis, Ryan Phillippe and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. Rionda Del Castro also recently exec produced George Hickenlooper's "Casino Jack" and the upcoming Kurt Russell family film "Touchback."
WME's Graham Taylor and Rionda Del Castro negotiated the deal with Anchor Bay Films president Bill Clark, as well as Anchor Bay execs Kevin Kasha and Richard Turner.
