Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards showed us what the supposedly forthcoming Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer comedy will look like.
While both stars have confirmed they’ve completed a screenplay that would have them play sisters, TV viewers got a taste of their dynamic when the women presented clips from their own Best Comedy or Musical-nominated films “Joy” and “Trainwreck.”
“I’m J. Law,” Lawrence said of her tabloid nickname, to which Schumer responded, “I’m A-Schu.”
“You can’t just give yourself a celebrity name,” Lawrence begged to differ.
Among their other gags — including references to how hard they fought to live normal lives with so much attention — was another name game where Schumer paired herself with some hot actors.
“Like Amy-Tom Hardy,” Schumer joked. Lawrence told her to aim for someone she could actually date, not just “people you want to have sex with.”
Schumer thought for a moment, then suggested “Amy-All the Hemsworths,” referring to Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth.
Audience laughter said the crowd was charmed by the pair, but perhaps not the man who introduced them, host Ricky Gervais.
“It’s like these two never had a friend — ever. They’ll come ’round and tell you,” Gervais said.
