“American Idol” released a five-minute preview of it’s final season on Wednesday, reflecting on the show’s past highlights and upcoming talent.
The sneak peek at the premiere episode features glimpses of past seasons, including the crowning of the show’s first winner, Kelly Clarkson. Current judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban also tease the new season, promising that it will rank among the show’s best.
The singing competition will return for its 15th and final season with a two-night premiere on Jan. 6 and 7 on Fox. All three judges from last season will return, as will host Ryan Seacrest.
Fox announced back in May that the long-running show would come to an end after one last “farewell” season to send it off.
“We really wanted to do it in a way that felt special and celebratory,” Fox co-CEO Gary Newman said at the time.
