When Ramiro Garcia was born, without fully-formed ears, his parents were told he would never be able to hear or speak.
But the 28-year-old Texas church worship leader proved his doctors wrong, delivering an "American Idol" audition performance on Thursday's episode that earned him a ticket to the Hollywood round.

In the final audition of the night, Garcia — who underwent yearly surgeries to eventually restore his hearing — sang a powerful version of "Amazing Grace" that scored thumbs-up reviews from all three judges and left his proud parents in tears.
