Nailing the part of FBI agent Richie DiMaso required “American Hustle” star Bradley Cooper too lay it all on the line. That kind of risk taking comes with the territory on a David O. Russell movie, the Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee reveals in TheWrap’s exclusive video.
“Any time you do a movie with David, it’s going to have to take me to places emotionally that aren’t comfortable, but are real,” Cooper said. “He demands that you explore things in an organic way.”
Cooper knew what he was in for. The director and actor memorably collaborated on “Silver Linings Playbook,” earning Academy Awards invitations for their efforts on that film as well.
In the case of DiMaso, that emotional journey required blending a sense of vulnerability with a capacity for violence.

“American Hustle” also reunites Cooper with his “Silver Linings Playbook” co-star Jennifer Lawrence.
“He just has so much to give as an actor,” Lawrence enthused about the actor. “He’s really exciting to see.”
