That’s very snaky of you, “American Horror Story: Coven.”
A new poster for FX’s spooky drama hit the internet on Tuesday, and like pretty much all of the teaser material leading up to the upcoming season of the Ryan Murphy/Brad Falchuk series, the poster doesn’t offer much in the way of details — but it comes through in spades in the creepy image department.

The image of a snake slithering between three female mouths could either be a new twist on the “speaks with forked tongue” saying, or perhaps a commentary on the biblical tale of Eve. Then again, it’s possible that FX just wants to throw one more skin-crawling mental snapshot your way to keep you up at night.
What we do know so far about the upcoming third iteration of the “American Horror Story” saga: It will feature newcomers Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe alongside “AHS” veterans Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.
And it will follow survivors of the Salem witch trials as they attend a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves against attacks. “American Horror Story: Coven” premieres Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. on FX. Until then, enjoy this scaly little morsel.
