Here comes the end of days.
FX has released a glimpse of the “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” trailer, with the first legit teaser (including the cast and everything) for the eighth installment of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series. And it looks like the “Murder House”-“Coven” crossover is going to be more explosive than any chapter that’s come before it (pun totally intended), as it’s truly the end of the world as we know it.
The video shows a large number of the returning cast, like Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts back in (Season 1 and Season 3) character, along with a few trying on some new looks, like Evan Peters, and a few fresh faces all together, like Joan Collins.
And though this is the first real teaser (yeah, we’re not counting those creepy apocalyptic clips, featuring no cast members, that have been rolling out for about a month now) some of the footage appears to be old, including that shot of Jessica Lange. Sorry!
But don’t worry, because when FX dropped the 30-second teaser clip on Twitter Tuesday the caption read, “A glimpse of what tomorrow brings … ” OK, so we’re just gonna go ahead and assume the full-length trailer is finally coming Wednesday. (We hope.)
“Apocalypse” stars a slew of franchise alums, including Peters, Paulson, Roberts, Conroy, Farmiga, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Stevie Nicks, Dylan McDermott and, as TheWrap exclusively reported, Connie Britton. Oh, and let’s not forget the biggest surprise return of all: Jessica Lange. Add to that series newcomers Collins and Cody Fern and you have a recipe for a true world-ender.
Watch the teaser below.
“American Horror Story: Apocalypse” will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 10/9c on FX.
