The cast of Starz’s “American Gods” gathered for their first photo following a table read of the premiere episode.
“The first table read is in the books. #AmericanGods is coming…” the show’s official Twitter announced Tuesday.
Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane, who play Shadow and Mr. Wednesday, respectively, in the Neil Gaiman adaptation, were joined by co-stars Bruce Langley and Yetide Badaki, as well as executive producers Michael Green, Bryan Fuller and David Slade, who is directing the pilot episode.
Missing from the photo were Emily Browning, who plays Shadow’s wife Laura, and Sean Harris, who plays Mad Sweeney.
The adaptation portrays a war between the old gods of biblical and mythological roots and a new group of gods “reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.”
Filming begins this month.
