AMC's first wholly owned original series, the highly anticipated zombie thriller "The Walking Dead," will premiere on Halloween night, the network announced Tuesday.
Based on a comic book by Robert Kirkman, "The Walking Dead" was adapted for TV and directed by "Shawshank Redemption" writer Frank Darabont.
AMC will debut the show with a special 90-minute premiere episode at 10 p.m.; subsequent episodes will be only one hour long.
To further promote the series, the network also unveiled a four-minute "Walking Dead Trailer" that had previously only been seen at Comic-Con. It shows a police officer who wakes up after being shot to find a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse.
