‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Gets an Amazing Homemade Trailer (Video)

Action figures, string, cardboard title sequences and an a cappellla soundtrack make this tribute to inventive filmmaking a blockbuster

Before Hollywood gave superhero fans big-budget comic book adaptations every summer, the toy companies gave them action figures — which take the place of Andrew Garfield in a homemade trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

The DustFilms and CineFix production (above) uses simple, but inventive VFX techniques everybody learned in elementary school to create a exact shot-for-shot remake of an actual trailer Sony used to promote its May 2 release.

There’s high-flying action, a cardboard Rhino, an a cappella  score and even a pretty cool recreation of the villain Electro, played by  Jamie Foxx.

So far, director Marc Webb‘s sequel to the 2012 reboot of the profitable franchise is on track to rake in $95 million its opening weekend.

Critics, however, are mixed on whether it’s actually worth your money.
