If you were impressed by Amanda Seyfried’s dulcimer-playing abilities this week, we are pleased to inform you that the actress has yet another secret talent: peacock calls.
The “Mamma Mia!” star stopped by “Late Night” on Monday and, almost immediately, host Seth Meyers applauded her viral moment from “The Tonight Show,” in which she flawlessly sang and played Joni Mitchell’s “California” on a dulcimer of all instruments (even if he begrudgingly had to spotlight it being on a colleague’s show).
As the conversation continued though, Meyers moved on to talking about Seyfried’s farm, which recently took in several peacocks — all apparently named Kevin.
“So we got them last Spring, and … they were so loud,” she admitted. “They go ‘Ahhhhh! Ahhhh!’ And you can hear them! And then they stop after the spring.”
And yes, Seyfried really did start screaming in her best imitation of a peacock mating call — because apparently, they’re only loud and vocal during mating season, which it currently is.
Naturally, Meyers immediately cracked up, just marveling that the moment was really happening.
“I can’t believe Fallon got your Joni Mitchell, and I got your peacock,” he ribbed.
“I know, I’m so sorry,” Seyfried replied with a laugh. “That’s a really good point. Touché.”
That said, Meyers was quick to applaud the quality of the bird call. And, for what it’s worth, Seyfried noted at the start of the interview that, while she’s glad her dulcimer moment was received the way it was, she probably won’t be breaking out the instrument regularly.
“I think that was once and done,” she said. “I’m just going to take what I can get!”
