Rehearsals are underway with less than a month to go before the premiere of “Peter Pan Live!” on Thursday, Dec. 4 on NBC. That includes enough dress rehearsals to put together a promotional teaser for the live event spotlighting both Allison Williams‘ Peter Pan and Christopher Walken‘s Captain Hook.
In less than a minute, we get glimpses into three different scenes from the musical. We start off with a peek at the first time Peter takes flight in front of the Darling children, much to their delight. Next up, Christopher Walken is clearly having a lot of fun putting dramatic pauses in lines like, “Who’s the greatest villain … of all time?”
Then, we’re presented with a longer look at Williams singing and dancing her way through, “I Won’t Grow Up.” She looks both happy and sinister in these clips, with a smile that promises deviltry.
The sets and production value look equivalent to what we got with NBC’s “The Sound of Music Live!” last holiday season, which puts it on par with a high-quality stage performance. Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who executive produced that live event, are on hand for this one as well.
As TheWrap previously reported, Minnie Driver will play both narrator and the adult Wendy Darling in the production, alongside Broadway veteran Kelli O’Hara as Mrs. Darling. Mr. Darling will be portrayed by Christian Borle, who will also take on the role of Hook’s sidekick Smee.
“Peter Pan Live!” airs Thursday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
