20th Century Fox has released a photo of the full cast of “Alien: Covenant,” offering a first look at James Franco in the film.
In the still, Franco is seen center, with Danny McBride standing next to him and Michael Fassbender appearing on the very right. Jussie Smollett, Katherine Waterston and Demian Bichir are also visible in the photo. “Alien: Covenant” will also star Billy Crudup, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby.
In December, it was announced that Franco would be joining the film.
Director Ridley Scott’s new movie has crew members of the colony ship Covenant bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. Soon they discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
According to reports, Franco plays the captain of the crew. The studio has not yet confirmed the role Franco will be playing.
“Alien: Covenant” is intended to be the start of a new trilogy of “Alien” films all built on the events of “Prometheus.” Fassbender returns as the synthetic David (with a dual role as a newer model named Walter) alongside Noomi Rapace, who played “Prometheus” protagonist Elizabeth Shaw.
Jack Paglen and Michael Green wrote the script.
“Alien: Covenant” is set to hit theaters May 19, 2017.
