Alan Cumming Recalls Drunk Shia LaBeouf Grabbing His Butt at ‘Cabaret’ Performance (Video)

“He did say that the reason he did it was that I was the sexiest man he’d ever seen,” said “The Good Wife” actor on “Conan”

Shia LaBeouf opened up last week — with a lot of detail — about the night he got arrested at a performance of “Cabaret.”

Alan Cumming, the star of that performance, talked about what he remembered of that evening on TBS’s “Conan” Monday night.

“He was just wasted from the second he walked in,” Cumming said. “So there was an atmosphere in the [theater]. When I went down to go on stage and start the show, everyone was freaking out because there was someone who seemed to be a crazy person shouting and stuff.”

LaBeouf didn’t shy away from taking ownership of his drunken behavior on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” explaining the evening from his point of view, which included fully admitting that he barely knew where he was, why he was there and exactly what he was watching due to a night of heavy, heavy drinking.

LaBeouf told Kimmel he gave Cumming a “slap on the ass, because I think he deserves it” during one portion of the show when Cumming works his way into the audience.

“We’ve all done things where we’ve been out of it and messed up,” Cumming said. “Not everyone has to deal with it on such a worldwide scale, and I thought he made a very good recovery. And he did say that the reason he did it was that I was the sexiest man he’d ever seen.”

All appears to be forgiven, though Cumming may hesitate to walk by LaBeouf in the future, should he see him at an upcoming performance. Cumming recently extended his run with the Broadway production of “Cabaret” through March 2015, working alongside Emma Stone.

“Conan” airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
