Akiva Goldsman and his Weed Road production banner have signed a multiyear first-look deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, according to an insider with knowledge.
Weed Road had previously had their film and television at MGM, and rejoin Warner Bros. Pictures Group co-chairpersons and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.
“We’ve both known and worked with Akiva for years, and never cease to be amazed by his combination of filmmaking mettle and limitless imagination. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him back to the Warner Bros. family, where he has delivered some of the studio’s most successful and acclaimed projects of the past two decades,” Deluca and Abdy said in a statement.
Goldsman is currently working on the sequel to “Constantine” with Keanu Reeves attached to star and Francis Lawrence tapped to direct, along with the sequel to “I Am Legend” which has Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan attached to star.
Released in 2005, “Constantine” found Reeves filling the role of the titular exorcist with the ability to talk to angles and demons. The 2005 film grossed $280 million worldwide at the box office. Goldsman is currently writing the script to the sequel, and Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Erwin Stoff will executive produce the project.
