Adele be praised!
The British chanteuse has done the seemingly impossible and recorded a James Bond theme song that doesn't stink. Armed with a 77-piece orchestra, Adele has delivered a lush anthem to kick off 007's latest adventure, "Skyfall."
Early reviews have been glowing, and it turns out they aren't hyperbolic. The brassy love song could easily stand alongside the best of the Bond songs — a group that includes Paul McCartney's rollicking "Live and Let Die" and Shirley Bassey's slinky "Goldfinger" — and is a worthy follow-up to her monster hit album "21."
More important, it helps cleanse the palate after more than a decade of musically inert Bond songs from the likes of Jack White, Madonna and, shudder, Garbage.
"Skyfall" sees Daniel Craig return as the martini-swilling superspy. It hits theaters on Nov. 9.
