Adam Sandler Joins Animated Vampire Movie

Genndy Tartakovsky will direct Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D “Hotel Transylvania”

Adam Sandler is going to be a bloodsucker.

The comedian will voice the role of Dracula in Sony Pictures Animation's 3D "Hotel Transylvania," the studio said Tuesday.

Fran Drescher, Cee Lo Green, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Andy Samberg, Molly Shannon and David Spade also are lending their voices.

Genndy Tartakovsky is directing.

According to Sony, "Hotel Transylvania" is about a resort for monsters.

"But here's a little known fact about Dracula," Sony says. "He is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit."

James is playing Frankenstein and — in case you want something really scary — Drescher is playing Eunice, the bride of Frankenstein.

Spade plays Quasimodo, the one-time Hunchback of Notre Dame and now a gourmet chef.

Buscemi and Shannon play a pair of werewolves. Green is a mummy. And Samberg is a 21-year-old regular guy who is staying at the hotel.

Sandler has made or produced 23 movies for Sony, including "Just Go With It," which grossed more than $214 million worldwide.

Michelle Murdocca is producing.

The movie has a release date of Sept. 21, 2012.
