ABC has ordered another crime drama pilot from executive producer Mark Gordon, TheWrap has learned.
Written and executive produced by Dean Georgaris, “Las Reinas” centers on Detective Sonya De La Reina, who is forced to confront her past when a case compels her to reconnect with her estranged family – the most powerful criminal outfit in Miami. Thrust back into the world she thought she had left behind, Sonya must walk the murky line between the law and her family, and question her true destiny as a De La Reina.
Gordon, who recently produced “Conviction,” “Designated Survivor” and “Quantico” for the network, will serve as executive producer on the project alongside Nicholas Pepper.
This is Georgaris’ second pilot order this season, following the military drama “For God and Country,” which was picked up by NBC last month.
The order comes the day after ABC gave pilot orders to the dramas “Unit Zero,” from “Black-ish” producers Kenya Barris and Lindsay Shockley, and “Salamander,” from the writers of the CBS summer drama “Zoo.”
The network also has “The Gospel of Kevin,” from the producers of “Agent Carter;” the time travel refugee drama “The Crossing;” the magician crime drama “Deception;” an untitled Shondaland legal drama; and a Reba McEntire-led dramedy from “Desperate Housewives” and “Devious Maids” creator Marc Cherry.
