ABC Buys Family Comedy Pitch From Academy President Tom Sherak’s Wife Madeleine (Corrected)

Story revolves around a woman whose family moves in with her parents

CORRECTED

ABC has purchased a pitch for a family comedy from Madeleine Sherak, wife of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak, as well as Steve Pink, who wrote and co-produced the 2000 John Cusack film "High Fidelity," and Jeff Morris.

The show, currently titled "We'll Be Out by Christmas," revolves around a woman whose family moves in with her parents while her husband pursues his degree.

(Note: This story has been corrected from an earlier version that said Tom Sherak was executive-producing, along with his wife. Although the network had confirmed Sherak's involvement, Sherak on Nov. 26 emailed TheWrap to say that he is not part of the TV project, which he started as a feature when he was at Revolution: "If anything, I am a cheerleader in it." He also told TheWrap the show is based on a real-life Sherak family experience.)

Madeleine Sherak also produced the 2005 TV movie "Dawn Anna" and the 2009 romantic comedy "I Hate Valentine's Day," along with Jason Shuman, who is also partnering with her on "Christmas."
