George Clooney is not the only Hollywood star who has had a memorably bad experience with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. “The Bear” actress Ayo Edebiri revealed Tuesday that she once received death threats all thanks to the tech billionaire.

“Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the No. 1 moment, but for sure Top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man,” Edebiri wrote in an Instagram story. “So not only is he [a] double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot.”

Edebiri accompanied her caption with a screenshot Musk retweeted in February 2024 of a fake report that said that Disney was considering her as a potential replacement for Johnny Depp in the studio’s next “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. Musk quote-tweeted the fake report, commenting, “Disney sucks.”

Edebiri, who stars as the lead in A24’s new satirical thriller “Opus,” finished her Instagram story by sarcastically remarking, “Life is, of course, a gift.” On Tuesday, before she shared her memory of Musk’s careless retweet, Edebiri also posted an Instagram story with recent quotes from comedian Bill Burr in which he called Musk, among other things, “one guy with dyed hair plugs and a laminated face.”

Burr and Edebiri’s remarks come at a time when Musk is taking up a bigger share of the global spotlight than he ever has before. His role as a senior advisor to President Trump, as well as his spearheading of the administration’s efforts to substantially cut down government spending by laying off thousands of federal employees and gutting certain agencies, have made Musk the source of tremendous concern among everyday Americans.

Both Trump and Musk have received heavy criticism for their unorthodox, legally dubious partnership over the past seven weeks. Musk was also lambasted in January for making two motions resembling, as Edebiri referenced, a Nazi salute at a Trump inauguration rally.

Edebiri’s comments also come the same week Musk blamed recent X outages on a “massive cyberattack” from a foreign country or organization, with IP addresses based in Ukraine.
