Lizzy Caplan and A24’s new crisis PR drama series has landed at Netflix, TheWrap has learned.
After a competitive bidding situation, Netflix has acquired the rights to the untitled project, and the series is currently in development at the streamer, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
Based on the viral New York Magazine article “Get Me Risa Heller!” the new series will star Caplan as New York’s premiere crisis PR fixer, who “helps high-profile clients navigate the worst days of their lives while striving to maintain her own image as a happily married mother of three without any crises of her own to hide,” per the official synopsis.
Halley Feiffer, who most recently served as showrunner for “American Horror Story: Delicate,” will write and showrun for the series, which is produced by A24. In “AHS: Delicate,” Kim Kardashian starred as PR maven Siobhan Corbyn, who carefully curated the image of her best friend and actress, played by Emma Roberts.
Netflix did not provide a comment for this story.
The New York Magazine article profiles crisis PR expert Risa Heller, who has guided the likes of Jeff Zucker, Mario Batali and Jared Kushner, among others, through various scandals.
Feiffer also executive produces the series under Tiny Pyro alongside Marti Noxon and Maria Grasso, while Caplan and Tom Riley EP under their new banner Westborn Pictures. Additional EPs include Jess Lubben, Scoop Wasserstein and A24.
Caplan re-teams with Netflix after starring in “Zero Day” alongside Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Angela Bassett and Connie Britton. Best know for her roles in “Mean Girls,” “Now You See Me 2” and “Cloverfield,” Caplan has recently starred in series “Party Down,” “Fleishman is in Trouble,” “Fatal Attraction” opposite Joshua Jackson,” “Inside Job” and “Truth Be Told.”
Feiffer also has writing credits on “Dear Edward,” “American Crime Story,” “Roar,” “SMILF,” “Kidding” and “Mozart in the Jungle.”
Caplan is represented by WME and Rise Management.
