CNN hosts Chris Cuomo and Alisyn Camerota took a moment on the set of “New Day” Tuesday to mock President Donald Trump for his two-handed “sippy cup” way of drinking water.
“I don’t get all the hands thing and the glass,” said Cuomo clutching an empty vase like a water bottle. “This is what I drink out of, and I hold it like a man with one hand, but that’s just me.”
He then gave a dramatic demonstration.
Camerota clutched her own glass on set — like Trump — with two hands.
“That is the sippy cup grip that you’re using there now,” said Cuomo.
The president did the two-handed sippy cup move while speaking to military service members in Washington D.C. on Monday. It’s not the first time Trump has required a drink mid-speech. When he addressed the media upon his return from Asia last month, he was mocked again after reaching for a bottle of Fiji water.
Both instances may have been written off were it not for Trump’s merciless mockery of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) during the 2016 presidential campaign over his own history of dry-mouth. Rubio, you may recall, took an infamous drink of water during his response to President Obama’s State of the Union address in 2013.
Trump (and many others) have been making fun of him ever since.
